Zagreb Advent & Christmas Market
From December 1st till January 6th. Zagreb Advent & Christmas Market is for all, romantics, families, hedonists and seniors as the city is easily explorable on foot. Especially during Advent as there are events popping out on every corner.
Zagreb Advent has been voted the best Christmas Market in Europe 3 years in a row. The sound of Christmas bells, the scent of gingerbread, mulled wine and various other delicacies. Just forget everything and enjoy all these wonderful things!
Food & Drinks
The Zagreb food scene has changed immeasurably in the last couple of years, refining the qualities that the city was always known for as well as introducing a whole raft of culinary innovation.
The Zagreb culinary tradition was always based around the Croatian love of big, set-piece lunches, with the hearty grilled- and roast-meat dishes of inland Croatia and fresh seafood of the Mediterranean.
Lower Town
Zagreb’s refined Lower Town was laid out in the 1800s and unlike the twisting alleys of the medieval core it’s all wide avenues and grand neo-classical buildings. Lower Town is where the city’s more prestigious hotels are located, as well as much of its green space and several high-profile museums that we’ll come to in due course.
You could come for lunch at a cafe or for a spot of upmarket shopping and then take an easy walk through this leafy part of town.
Nightlife
Bars, cafes, clubs, discos, pubs, live music; determined nightcrawlers need never be bored by Zagreb nightlife. From alternative to classy, there's a club scene for every taste. You have the Upper Town with the sinuous, bar-lined Tkalciceva street and the Lower Town with Bogoviceva and Trg Preradovica plus the Branimir Centre across from the train station.
For the most part, the vibe is pretty relaxed in Zagreb clubs. Menacing bouncers, ruthlessly selective door policies and watery cocktails have not yet made inroads onto the scene.
