Sicily is located in the central Mediterranean Sea and its most prominent landmark is Mount Etna, the tallest active volcano in Europe. The island is drained by several rivers, most of which flow through the central area and enter the sea at the south of the island.
Holiday to Sicily has a typical Mediterranean climate with mild and wet winters and hot, dry summers with very changeable intermediate seasons. On the coasts, especially in the south-west, the climate is affected by the African currents and summers can be scorching.
Sicily Holiday is famous for the Teatro Massimo, Italy's largest opera house. Explore its fascinating history on a day trip to the Valley of Temples in Agrigento, browse the stylish boutiques of Taormina, or soak up the Mediterranean sun on the sandy shores of Cefalu beach. This largest of Italy’s islands has landscape with a mesmerizing combination of crystal clear seas, rumbling volcanoes, lush vegetation and ancient ruins. Dive, swim, hike and climb across Sicily and its offshore islands.

MORE ABOUT SICILY
Visit Etna
The Etna volcano is impossible to miss if you are in Sicily. It is one of the island’s main attractions, and it should definitely be included in your tour in Sicily.
From Taormina and Catania, many viewpoints allow you to admire it from a distance. But as it’s so close, it would be sad to miss the opportunity to climb up and see its crater. The best things to do is to choose a day or half-day excursion.
Sicilian cuisine
Sicilian cuisine is incredibly unique while much of it is clearly Italian and olive oils are some commonly used ingredients that clearly stand out.
Raisins and saffron crop up in the island’s most famous dishes, and differ from those found on the mainland. If you find risotto on the menu, it’ll always be a seafood risotto. However, the main use of it is in arancini rice balls that are a staple across the island.
Nightlife
Sicily's nightlife is partying in clubs, discos and lounge bars, dancing until dawn on the beach, events in hotels, wineries and lidos. Some of the best nightlife you can find in Sicily is in Catania and Palermo.
Catania is well known among Sicilians for its plentiful bars, pubs, and discos. Many of these places stay open every day of the week. Best of all, many of these places are clustered together, making it even easier to go from place to place.
Nightlife in Sicily means, by and large, nightlife in Sicilian cities, or their beachside satellites.
Selinunte Temples
Selinunte is one of the favorite archaeological sites in Sicily. The temples with the sea view is simply a must-see during your trip to Sicily.
The archaeological park is split in 2 different sites, so its recommended to take your car to go from one to another. There are several temples to see. Some are very well preserved, others in less good condition.
Since the experts were not sure to which divinity the temples were dedicated, they preferred to name them according to the alphabetical letters. So don’t be surprised to visit temple A, B or C.
