Gdansk holiday is often overlooked by many travelers to Poland, in favor of the more popular spots like Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw. However, this city is well worth the journey north. In fact, it’s our favorite Polish city and we have plenty cheap city break deals for Gdansk.

MORE ABOUT GDANSK
Food & Drinks
One of the favourite things to do in Gdansk was to eat. There are so many great restaurants to choose from and new foods to try. Plus, food and alcohol is relatively cheap, so you can dine in several fine dining restaurants without breaking the bank.
Gdansk is the perfect city for any traveller who loves to not only take in the sights, but also sample the local cuisine. There is an abundance of Polish specialities available, and the city as a whole has a very affordable cost of eating out.
Nightlife
Gdansk is an excellent place to go out. There are countless pubs and bars in the city. Often the distinction between restaurant, bars and clubs is very thin, as many places have restaurants or bars by day.
Restaurants and bars fill the walkways with lively music and great views. One place that we stumbled upon when exploring Gdansk was a floating bar right on the main strip. Clubs and pubs that characterise the nightlife in Gdansk are very informal and elegant little, charm and trendy.
Neptune’s Fountain
On Long Market, a few steps from the Artus Court is an enduring symbol for Gdansk. Neptune’s Fountain is a Mannerist monument cast in bronze in the city in 1615, but wouldn’t be installed for another 18 years. The sculptor was Abraham van den Blocke, originally from what is now Kaliningrad, but with Flemish parents.
Located by the palatial townhouses where Poland’s royalty would stay in Gdansk, the fountain’s sculpture shows Neptune bowing his head slightly as a sign of deference.
Beach
After a day or two on the streets of Gdansk you may be ready to rest up on a beach on the Baltic for an afternoon. The closest is on the waterfront of the Jelitkowo District to the northwest of the Old Town. This beach has a clean ribbon of fine sand backed by a chain of parks and curving for several kilometres up the coast to the west.
Behind the foreshore there’s a paved cycling path if you’d like to break even further from the city.
