Izmir has some of the best amazing ancient monuments right in the centre of the city. You can find the ruins of a Roman-Greek marketplace inside the Agora grounds. The Historical Clock Tower, one of the city’s landmarks w?th its elegant marble fountains at Konak Square is a must visit place.
There are plenty of museums, Churches and Mosques famous for their architectural and historical features to visit and explore. Hisar Mosque, Kemeralti Mosque, Agia Fotini Church, Church of Saint Vukolos, Beth Israel Synagogue and Algazi Synagogue are some popular places preferred to visit.

Keremalti Market
Keremalti Market

The most popular central bazaar in Izmir is really a stunning place to visit where the local marketeers shout and smile selling their products and are very friendly and happy to interact. Keremalti is home to shops, eateries, artisans workshops, coffeehouses and historic places of worship.
There’s plenty of delicious local food specialties like sweet and sticky Turkish delight in every colour of the rainbow and salty sour olives range from deep black-purple to bright green. Spending a day to explore its crowded and colourful streets highlights the main Izmir.

Mount Kadifekale
Mount Kadifekale

Kadifekale, also known as the Velvet Castle is a hilltop castle in Izmir located on the Mount Pagos. They still have the tradition of Turkey's southeast baking bread in makeshift ovens and weaving colourful textiles that they happily sell to visitors.
Built by General Lysimachos, a successor of Alexander the Great, Kadifekale appears to have acted as both a castle and a fort, giving clear and beautiful views of the city and across to the Gulf of Izmir.

Turkish Feast
Turkish Feast

Turkish meals are dated back to the Ottoman Empire, Baklava being one of the most iconic sweet dish. Some good places to eat and drink in Izmir are Gozlemecim, Kordon, Tugba and Asansor.
Roasted eggplant, grilled whole fish, savory greens smothered in sour cream, potato and lamb stew, green salads with shredded cheese, Iskender Kebab, fresh sweet peppers and radishes are some regional delicacies, tourists love to indulge themselves and are definitely not to be missed.
